Support for Increased Funding for Senior Centers

 

Each year, the Legislature funds the Council On Aging Formula Grant, which essentially gives towns $9/senior in the town, based on the 2010 census numbers.  Recognizing that the number of seniors continues to increase while the headcount from the 2010 doesn’t change, Representative Bruce Ayers recently circulated a letter urging the House Ways & Means committee chairman, Representative Brian Dempsey, to increase the funding to $10/senior in this year’s budget.  I am pleased to join so many of my colleagues in supporting this effort which funds critical services at our senior centers.  Our letter is below.
